Graham Lodwick Scholarship 2010 – Western Australian School of Mines (WASM)

Scholarship Introduction:
This Scholarship is for current year 12 high school students wishing to pursuing a career in agriculture, mining or resources and have attended a regional or rural high school.
This Scholarship has been implemented to recognise Professor Graham Lodwick, the inaugural Executive Dean of the Division of Resources and Environment at Curtin University of Technology. Professor Lodwick originally joined Curtin as foundation Professor of and Head of the Department of Spatial Sciences and was later Dean of Engineering. He retired from Curtin in 2005 having provided leadership to Curtin’s offshore campus in Malaysia as Pro Vice Chancellor Curtin Sarawak during 2004-2005.

The Division of Resources and Environment was created in 2002 and comprised the Western Australian School of Mines (WASM), the Vocational Training and Education Centre (VTEC), the Muresk Institute of Agriculture, the Centre for Regional Education, and the Departments of Applied Geology, Exploration Geophysics, Petroleum Engineering and Spatial Sciences. Professor Lodwick was instrumental in developing the Division of Resources and Environment to represent Curtin’s regional education and research activities and his legacy continues to be important in servicing the needs of regional communities in Western Australia.

Eligibility for Scholarship:
Applicants must meet ALL of the following criteria to be considered for the Graham Lodwick scholarship:
• Have completed Year 11 and 12 in a rural and/or regional high school
• Have selected Curtin University of Technology as a first preference through TISC to undertake an eligible undergraduate degree
• Be undertaking the first semester of their first undergraduate degree at Curtin University of Technology in Semester 1, 2010
• Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or the holder of an Australian Permanent Humanitarian or Permanent Resident Visa
• Be eligible for a commonwealth supported place
