White Rose Scholarships – University of Hull
The University of Hull is a leading centre for research in Geography and Environmental Governance, with 90% of research in the Geography Department rated as international in RAE 2008. Training provision for the student
A wide ranging postgraduate training scheme is in place in Hull which all research students must complete. This includes professional development activities as well as subject specific modules. The PhD position itself will provide a broad spectrum of training for the student.
Entry Requirements
UK/EU applicants only. Applicants will be expected to hold a minimum of a UK upper second class Honours degree, or equivalent, in Geography, Environmental Studies or a cognate discipline. A social science background is desirable. Candidates with a relevant Masters degree will be at an advantage. Non-native English speakers must meet the University’s English language requirements. A one page research proposal must be included with the application form.
The studentship provides Home/EU tuition fees, an annual maintenance grant of £13,490 (subject to final confirmation) and a contribution towards research expenses. The studentship is renewable for three years, dependant on progress.
